Description

Situated on Scotland's rugged north coast, the Wolfburn distillery was first established in 1821, rapidly becoming the largest distillery in the Caithness area. The purchase of the land was finalised in May 2012 and the first ground was broken on the new site just a few months later. The new Wolfburn distillery building is just a short walk along the burn from the old site towards the sea. The Wolfburn Kylver 6th Release Kaunaz is the sixth bottling in the limited-edition Kylver series, named after a Viking runic alphabet. It was matured in first-fill bourbon casks from 2014 to 2020, and 1,000 bottles were produced. This single malt whisky was bottled for the Caithness Viking Festival.

An unusual depth of aromas, beginning with oak; vanilla and light coffee notes follow.
Palate
Vanilla and heather honey quickly give way to sweet autumn fruit. Cherries dominate, and there are hints of dried apple and raisins. It develops and grows on the palate; the blend of flavours is reminiscent of Christmas cake.
Finish
The finish is long-lasting, leaving notes of vanilla and fruit candies.
