Description

This is a single malt from an undisclosed distillery in Speyside, finished in sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. It was bottled by Atom Labs under the name Wormtub, which draws its name from a piece of condensing equipment used in the distilling process in some distilleries. Wormtub condensers are rarely used in modern distilling, with many distilleries opting for more modern Shell and Tube condensers. This release is part of a series that began in 2022 and is bottled without chill filtration or added colour.

Opens boldly with dates and walnuts, followed by a stack of freshly made pancakes with maple syrup. Flamed orange peel, a spicy kick of peppercorn leading into rich forest floor earthiness.
Palate
Hugely impressive with dark chocolate, punchy cassia and rye. Soft malt loaf with salted butter. A thick layer of caramel, liquorice, tangy dried cranberries and smoky oak.
Finish
Sultana, savoury spices, heavy malt and roasted nuts.
