Launched domestically in 2012 and to international markets in 2014, the non-age statement Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve expression includes Mizunara Japanese oak and Bordeaux wine cask-matured spirit in its blend. Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a refined blend drawn from a selection of Yamazaki's single malts, produced at Japan's oldest and most storied malt distillery. It combines malts matured in American oak, Mizunara Japanese oak, sherry oak, and French oak casks that previously held Bordeaux wine. A touch of peated malt is also blended in, adding subtle maritime smoke and an extra dimension of depth without overwhelming the malt character. This release serves as the flagship offering from Yamazaki, capturing the house style of elevated elegance, subtle sweetness, and refined complexity.
