Description
The oldest single malt whisky distillery in Japan, founded in 1923 by Shinjirō Torii. It is still owned by his company today, now known as Suntory, and its single malt which was bottled for the firs time in 1984 is hugely sought-after. It also provides fillings for blends such as Hibiki. This Yamazaki Plum Liqueur Cask Finish is a fascinating hybrid: a combination of whiskies stored in white oak, mizunara, and Spanish oak casks for more than 12 years, then finished for two years in an umeshu barrel. Only 3000 bottles were released in August 2008 and it was limited to the bar trade. [2, 3, 5, 13]
