Distilled at the oldest distillery in Japan, The Yamazaki Distillery, this 2022 edition of the Puncheon is part of the Tsukuriwake Selection 2022. It is a rich and sweet Japanese whisky that has been aged in an oak puncheon cask. Matured exclusively in specially-crafted casks from hand-selected American oak, this single malt shows off the heart of what makes Yamazaki, Yamazaki – the puncheon. These large casks can hold up to 480 litres, around double the capacity of a standard hogshead. Puncheons interact with the spirit more slowly that smaller casks, leaving subtle layers of fruit and spice on top of a spirit character that shines.
