The Yamazaki 2010 The Essence of Suntory Whisky - Islay Peated Malt is the fifth edition in 'The Essence of Suntory Whisky' series, which highlights Suntory's dedication to whisky making and diverse unblended whiskies. This single malt was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2021, after 11 years of maturation. It was crafted using malted barley dried with peat from the Scottish island of Islay and matured in American oak casks. This release was initially made available exclusively to bars in Japan.

Palate
Medium-bodied, rich wood smoke, burning grass, ash, hay, herbal incense, black pepper, cocoa, smooth texture, cinnamon, cake spice, light body with fresh earthiness, vanilla, citrus, spice, hint of brine, heavily peated and intense, pineapple, yuzu citrus, subtle sweetness of honey and vanilla.
Finish
Peppery and lively with charred wood and grass alongside dark chocolate, long and warming, lingering medium finish, smoky smooth with a peach taste, clean and deeply warming smokiness, whisper of saline sea air and spice.
