Description

The only whisky distillery in the Tohoku region of Japan, Asaka is owned and operated by Sasanokawa Shuzo, who built it in 2015 within one of its former sake warehouses. The distillery's single malt is currently bottled as a sub-category of the Yamazakura brand. Sasanokawa Shuzo was founded in 1765 and obtained a license to produce whisky in 1946, with the Asaka distillery relaunching in 2016. [cite: Whisky Auctioneer, 3, 5]
