Description

The flagship malt whisky distilling of the Nikka Distilling Co, established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru. Despite limited availability due to stock shortages in the 21st century, its single malt is highly regarded and it also provides important fillings for Nikka blends such as Taketsuru. This Yoichi 2000s is a single malt whisky that is a vatting of whiskies distilled between 2000 and 2009.

Nose
Balanced and soft with vanilla, light summer fruit, oaky caramel, cinnamon, apple-grape juice, honey, bark, woody notes, slight brine, butteriness, pepper, citrus, and pear, with a hint of peat.
Palate
Rich and full mouthfeel, spicy with cinnamon and white pepper, hints of tropical fruit, fizzy ginger, grape sweetness, peat smoke, thick honey, burnt apple juice, and strong brine. Malty vanilla and subtle peat.
Finish
Long-ish, oily, rich, savoury, with notes of burnt bread, burnt bread crust, smokey apple juice, fresh apples, leather, saltwater spray, cream, tannins, malt, hay, and slight smoke. Nutty sweet and pleasant richness.
