Description
The unforeseen popularity of Japanese whisky in the 21st century led Nikka to discontinue its age-statement Yoichi core range in 2015. This Yoichi Single Malt was launched in 2016 as a permanent, no-age-statement expression, aiming to capture the authentic style of Yoichi malts. It is a blend of various malt whiskies, expressing a delicate balance between peaty, smoky, and fruity aromas. The Yoichi distillery, Nikka's first, was built in 1934 in Hokkaido, chosen for its similar environmental conditions to Scotland. Yoichi malts are known for their bold and strong character with refined peaty notes and smokiness, brought by traditional direct coal-fired distillation and a briny hint from sea breeze during maturation.
