Description
Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery's popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty. Ardbeg Day Feis Ile 2012 is a limited edition Islay single malt released to celebrate the first official Ardbeg Day on June 2nd, 2012, during the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music. This heavily-peated whisky is a vatting of two sherry casks, and was also an assembly of two vintages matured in bourbon casks and married/finished in refill sherry casks previously used for Ardbeg Uigeadail. Bottled at a cask strength of 56.7% ABV, it was a limited run of 12,000 bottles and was distributed worldwide through Ardbeg Embassies.
