Description

The Darkness! range offers a different take on many distillery's traditional styles, with each expression finished for over 3 months in specially commissioned octave casks from The Speyside Cooperage. These teeny tiny little Sherry casks are only a tenth the size of a traditional Butt, so the releases are extremely limited! This Ardbeg 21 Year Old was finished in a small PX Sherry cask. Darkness takes casks of bourbon-matured Scotch whiskies and reracks them into Octave sherry casks for a brief period of secondary maturation, giving the whiskies a richer, deeper colour and pronounced sherry flavour characteristics. This particular bottling is 40.1% ABV and comes in a 50cl bottle.

Thick and sweet with semi-dried plums, golden raisins, caramelized apple, melon candy, sugared almonds, smoke, sweet peat, lacquered bacon, soft mouthfeel, sweet olives, buttery oak, vanilla, lexia raisins, nutty, blackcurrant, Cadbury fruit and nut chocolate bar, mocha sweetness.

Not very long, chocolaty, candied, crisp, herb-like peat, lemon, shammy leather, Napoleon candy, sugar, long, dry, residual sweetness, aromatic, incense, orange zest.
