Description

This is an Ardbeg 1993 vintage, 15-year-old Single Malt Whisky, bottled in 2009 by independent bottler Duncan Taylor as part of their Rare Auld series. It was drawn from single oak cask number 1724, yielding 292 bottles at cask strength of 58.9% ABV. This release showcases Ardbeg's heavily peated Islay character with extended oak maturation, resulting in a bold, smoky expression shaped by both powerful peat influence and concentrated wood impact.

Nose
Nice combo of heavy smoke notes and floral elements. Soot and coal with a few farmy notes. Heavy peat. Burnt heather. A few marine notes (brine, tarry rope).
Palate
Oily, very very peaty, dry and ashy. Sea brine and lemon. Rather grassy as well. A little sweeter in the aftertaste.
Finish
Long, peaty, fading on salty liquorice.
