Nose
Sweet and tart peat. Fresh lemon, green apples, and rice vinegar. Lots of nutty, kind of maritime notes, like seaweed and even some bonito flake. Grassy and earthy.
Palate
Sweeter lemon than on the nose, followed by a big whack of peat smoke. Lots of rich tobacco, ash, mud, and clay. A little of the notes from the Laphroaig cask do come through. Iodine. An almost custardy note, egg yolks.
Finish
An interesting mix of fresh, nutty, and peaty notes. More medicinal peat, coal fires, ash, some lemon and cilantro. Some baking spices, browned butter and fatty pork.
