Description

A highly-regarded malt distillery in Speyside and the second built by William Grant & Sons. The distillery is still owned by the company today its brand has been nurtured to become one of the most recognisable and sought-after single malts in the world. This Balvenie IslayCask 17 Year Old was matured in traditional oak casks for at least 17 years and then transferred into casks that previously held Islay single malt for a finishing period, imparting a delicate hint of peat while retaining the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.

Nose
The nose opens with the signature honeyed sweetness of The Balvenie, complemented by soft vanilla and malted barley. The Islay cask influence becomes apparent with smoky peat and gentle brine, along with hints of seaweed and maritime aromas.
Palate
On the palate, the whisky is smooth and well-rounded, with a delicate balance between sweetness and smokiness. The honeyed malt base is enriched by layers of toffee and caramel, while the peaty notes from the Islay cask add depth and a touch of saltiness.
Finish
The finish is long and satisfying, with the smokiness lingering on the palate, alongside hints of sea salt, malt, and honey. The warmth from the oak adds a slight dryness, which balances the sweetness of the malt.
