Description

A 15-year-old Blair Athol, part of 'The Manager's Dram' series. This Highland single malt whisky was matured in a sherry cask and specially selected by distillery manager Gordon Donoghue for malt distillery managers within United Distillers (now Diageo). It was bottled at natural cask strength in December 1996 and was originally available exclusively to UD staff and VIPs, making it a highly sought-after limited edition release.

Nose
Quite heavy on sherry influences with dried fruits (figs, raisins), honey, caramel, lavender, and fresh sweet oranges. Also notes of smoky bonfire, dry, leafy sherry, ginger, wet earth, dark chocolate, toasted nuts, muesli, camphor, and mixed spices.
Palate
Lots of sherry influences again with forest fruit (blueberries, red berries), a sweet thick layer of honey, soy sauce, dark but sweet chocolate, lavender, and spicy notes of red chilli peppers and cinnamon.
Finish
Mid-long to long, with coffee, dark chocolate, salt, pine resin, and pepper.
