Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership it has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky. This is a Private Club Bottling No. 12, an homage to David Bowie, by the Regensburger Whisky- & Weinclub in Germany, released in 2018. It is a vatting of Bowmore whiskies from the 1960s to the 1990s, matured in sherry, bourbon, and rum casks.

Nose
Inviting with soft sherry notes, cigar tobacco, milk chocolate, resin, menthol, baked mushrooms, soy sauce, red fruits like raspberries and strawberries. Also, light smoke, maritime and salty notes, vanilla, salted caramel, lemon, lime, orange, mandarin, tropical fruits, eucalyptus, mint, After Eight, spicy wet leather, and tobacco.
Palate
Phenolic, menthol, copper coins, dark chocolate, fruity sweetness, bitter oak. Also, a tingle and sharpness on the tongue, maritime notes, sweet and fruity impressions, caramel, and orange peel.
Finish
Medium length, with menthol and cocoa powder, and lovely spices.
