It is part of the extensive Scotch whisky holdings of Diageo who, in addition to marketing its peated single malt, have also assigned it as one of the four regional brands home of the Johnnie Walker blends. Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
A classic Islay expression. The sweetish peat marries with delectable 'sticky lice'. Medicinal ingredients and seaweed take a much deserved bow. This cask strength dram is far from shy but not overpowering.
Palate
Full-bodied. Peaty sweet with a sherry thrust; the sugary elements are like the icing on a single malt cake.
Finish
Long, black cherries and peat, red liquorice and Black Forest cake.

The sweet peat and sherry give this a clear point of contrast, while the medicinal notes and seaweed keep it firmly Islay. It sounds bold, but not overpowering—a characterful, well-described dram.

At 60.1%, this is clearly a high-strength bottling, but the notes describe the peat as bold without being overpowering. The sherry sweetness gives it a welcome counterpoint.

The medicinal notes give the peat a point of interest, while sherry sweetness and black cherries add a softer side. The finish sounds especially generous. This seems firmly peat-led rather than the tea- or herb-focused style I tend to favour.
