Nose
A complex nose with initial sherry notes, evolving into creosote, saline, and furniture wax with an acetone edge. It also presents vinous notes, balsamic vinegar, old jam, coastal hints of seashells and seaweed, antique wood, beeswax, dried fruits like figs, dates, litchis, and tangerines, oriental pastries, earthy and humus notes, and a sooty character.
Palate
Rich, sweet, and intense, with herbal and medicinal undertones. Acetone, sea salt, limestone, and typical Clynelish waxiness are present. Full-bodied with plums, dates, oranges, vanilla cake, liquorice, strawberry jam, a salty note, earthy flavors, and a hint of smoke. Resinous, slightly bitter, with spices, soft curry, pastis, orange zests, marmalade, and a very lemony character.
Finish
Long and lingering, with developing oaky notes that are not drying. Medium length and dry, featuring orange peel, salt, honey, vanilla, stewed fruits, bananas flambéed, liquorice, and a slight astringency with citrus peel and tannins.
