Plans for the distillery began in 2014 when Tom Mellor and David Thompson, the company directors, decided to make Yorkshire's first ever Single Malt whisky distillery. The distillery, which was commissioned in 2016, is situated on two separate locations with one at Tom Mellor's farm and the other being just down the road in Hunmanby. Spirit of Yorkshire takes pride in their 'field to bottle' production. This Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2024 Special Release is the fifth annual bottling to celebrate Yorkshire Day, featuring a blend of whiskies matured in STR, ex-Madeira, ex-Sherry, and ex-New Oak casks. It is bottled at 55% ABV and is a limited edition of 1500 bottles.
