Description

Glenallachie 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 10 is an award-winning Speyside single malt from the Glenallachie distillery. Master Distiller Billy Walker hand-selected Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks to be married with spirit matured in red wine barriques and virgin American oak barrels. The resulting liquid was then bottled at a cask strength of 58.6% ABV, without added colouring or chill-filtration, for full flavour delivery. This limited edition is part of the distillery's acclaimed Cask Strength Batch series.

Nose
A sliver of redcurrant alongside nougat, teak, crème de cassis and cappuccino. A good portion of stewed cherries and a whiff of almonds too. Then a decent amount of sandalwood, some cigar boxes and resin. Also, bursting with ripe red berries, hazelnuts and heather honey, with hints of orchard fruit, cinnamon spice and gingersnap.
Palate
Lashings of dark chocolate, honeycomb and caramelised demerara sugar, followed by notes of treacle, mocha and ginger, with plum and toffee. Also, cracked black peppercorns, cloves, a touch of ginger and some mocha. Peach pits, cherry liqueur and eucalyptus.
Finish
Medium to long. The oak spices linger, with a few drops of cherry syrup and muscovado sugar. A surge of wood flavors, spicy oak with dark chocolate and coffee, followed by fruitiness and sweetness.
