Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned, Glenfarclas uses direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This particular expression, a 30 Year Old, was distilled on 18th December 1964 and matured in a single sherry butt (cask #4996) before being bottled in April 1995 by independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Only 480 bottles were produced.

Nose
Rich, dark, smoky sherry with sugared peels, zesty, and rubbery notes. Also, white wine, apple juice, maritime, waxy, dried fruits (bananas, figs), pine needles, resin, eucalyptus, chestnut honey, mastic, candy sugar, old rum, raisins, bergamot, liquorice, and nougat.
Palate
Thick, creamy sherry, buttery, spicy, malt loaf, herbal, and fresh. Also, creamy and resinous with icing sugar, fructose, fresh and dried fruits, raw beeswax, honey, pine candies, mint, chocolate, apricot liqueur, lavender honey, and cooked rhubarb.
Finish
Long, full, and rubbery. Also, fresh, on herbal tea (camomile) and crystallised orange zest.
