Nose
Intensely sherried with cacao, cherry, blackberry, wine vinegar, lacquered wood, coffee and a bit of smoke. Grainy and spirity to start, then tart fruit like gooseberries, green apples, lime zest, malt, honeyed, vanilla, musky citrus and vanilla cream.
Palate
Cherries (sweet and sour), raisins, citrus, balsamico, dark chocolate, tannins, mushrooms and sulphur. Sweet arrival but tart fruit and bitter zest, grassy quality. Drinkable but a little tight and hot at full strength. Less grainy/metallic with water and citrus emerges.
Finish
Reminds of Schwarzwalder kirsch. Earthy notes (mushrooms), dried herbs, pecan nuts, more sulphur and a whiff of smoke. Long, fruit expands with light tropical accents.
