This limited release from Duncan Taylor comes from the 2013 vintage of the Glenrothes distillery and was bottled in 2024. With a cask content of only 819 bottles, the whisky is presented in a typically simple tube. The maturation took place exclusively in oak casks, which gives the distillate its characteristic depth. Not chill-filtered and without the addition of coloring, the original character of the Speyside malt is preserved.

The creamy vanilla and caramel give the fruit a softer edge, while the dry, warming oak spice keeps it from feeling too sweet. Soft oak on the finish is a welcome detail, and the long finish adds staying power.
There is a lot going on here, but the fruit and oak spice give it a clear shape: ripe apple and pear, then cinnamon and dry oak through the finish. The sweet fruit and caramel sound appealing, though the full-bodied, spicy side may be more than I’d reach for often.
