Nose
A pretty gently sherried Highland Park nose. There is plenty of honeyed, heathery distillery character notes along with some gentle peat.
Palate
The palate displays more of the finishing cask with a caramel coating to the honeyed fruit followed by gentle briny and building sooty-peat. Lovely complexity with hints of cod liver oil, heather and a candied sweetness (from the finishing cask). There is plenty of sooty-peat to offset the sweetness from the cask and pushes said sweetness to the edge.
Finish
The malty sweetness just about balances the bitter oak finish.
