Description

The Jura 16 Year Old Diurachs' Own is a single malt Scotch whisky from the remote Isle of Jura, named in honor of the island's inhabitants, the 'Diurachs'. It is initially matured for 14 years in American oak ex-Bourbon casks and then finished for at least two years in ex-Amoroso Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in a rich and full-bodied character with hints of citrus fruit and toffee. This expression was introduced in the 2000s and was part of the distillery's core range until 2018.

Rich, aromatic, with vanilla, tangy citrus, sweet fudge, warm caramel, mixed berries, chocolate, and subtle coastal notes. Honey, sweet toffee, candied fruit (apple and citrus), malt, and chestnuts. Floral and honeyed with caramel, pine, and spicy dark chocolate.
Palate
Delightfully sweet and caramelly with rich buttery notes, honey sweetness, orange spices, vanilla custard, maple syrup, spiced oak, and subtle clove. Thick, rich mouthfeel with sweet toffee, fresh sugared tart red fruits, caramelized brown sugar, honey, raisins, and baking apples. Sweet and oily with milk chocolate, vanilla, and delicate cloves.
Finish
Long and lingering sweet toffee and honey. Shorter, with honeyed-sweet nuttiness, acidic, spicy bite, citrus, oak, and sweet sherry. Darkening chocolate and drying oak.
