Description

Located on the West Coast of Scotland is the Isle of Jura, where the red deer population outnumbers the human population by 5000 to 200. The island lies only 60 miles from Glasgow, (as the crow flies), yet can take rather a long time to reach. It consists of one road, one pub, one distillery and one shop and is often described as remote. This single malt whisky is the third bottling in the Cask Editions series from the Hedbridean island distillery of Jura. It was initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to ex-Caribbean rum casks for a finishing period, imparting tropical notes of fruit and spice.

Nose
Warm welcoming notes of guava and coconut, sugar coated almonds, apricots and a touch of citrus. Golden syrup and honey mix with dried pineapple and mango, with hints of green apple and cocoa powder.
Palate
Sweet vanilla, fudge, layers of mango, banana and guava. Tropical notes of pineapple and peach are expressive and have a delicious vibrancy. Smooth and full-bodied with layers of honey, dried fruit, and creamy vanilla.
Finish
Lingering, with abundant cinnamon spice on the back end. Medium-long and elegant with lingering hints of caramel, gentle spice, and a soft touch of rum sweetness. Mild peat smoke and warming spices come through.
