Description

Kavalan Distillery Reserve Peaty Cask is a limited-edition Taiwanese single malt whisky, offered exclusively at the distillery's Spirit Castle visitor center. It is distilled by Kavalan in Yilan County and matured in casks that previously held peated Scotch whisky, imparting a subtle smoky character to Kavalan's tropical, fruity spirit. It is bottled at cask strength, non-chill-filtered, and naturally colored. This single cask expression uses unpeated spirit matured in former peaty whisky casks.

Thick and unctuous, caramel toffee, zesty grapefruit, warm cinnamon, tropical fruits (kiwi, guava, coconut, melon), darker clover-honey, strong peat, melons, dried figs, caramel, smoky, white fruit, lemon juice, orange peel, wild flowers, spicy (white pepper, ginger), brisket burnt ends, mesquite, forest floor, caramel sauce, bread pudding with spiced peaches, singed apple cobbler.
Finish
Warming, elegant, long, gentle earthy peat, dark chocolate, red chili spice, dry, charcoal, background sweetness, tannins, dried fruit, green and herbal note from fading peat.
