Description

Kavalan Solist 2016 Vinho Barrique #W160802004 is a unique single cask whisky from the Kavalan distillery in Taiwan, bottled exclusively for Singaporean travel retailer KrisShop. The single malt was distilled on 2 August 2016 and matured in a hand-selected fine wine barrel, developing a rich cocoa, caramel and tropical fruit character. It is bottled at a cask strength of 56.3%. One of 203 bottles.

Nose
A rich fusion of vanilla and caramelized sugars with dark chocolate, ripe melon, mango, kiwi, citrus fruits, and pepper. Notes of dark forest honey, molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, and hazelnuts are also present.
Palate
Big and bold with incredible bursts of fruit, tropical flavors, caramel, and red fruit. Flavors of cherry wood, dates, nutty caramel, sweet spices, cinnamon, baking spices, and jammy notes like blueberry and strawberry jam. Rich with citrus, kiwi, and black pepper.
Finish
Long and complex, with dark and sweet fruits, caramelized sugars, dark chocolate, and almond. Dry, with red wine tannins, dancing spices, and a multitude of red and tropical fruits. Oakiness, spiciness, herbs, and a long aftertaste that becomes drier, reminiscent of grapefruit peel.
