Nose
Thoroughly coastal with smoked fish, oysters, rock pools and a strong vein of minerality. Peat is pronounced with earthiness and meatiness (BBQ pork ribs), enveloped in a sweet medicinal tang of oranges, lemons, and TCP. Deeper notes of rubber inner tubes, chocolate, burnt golden syrup, and a light herbal quality.
Palate
A solid arrival with pronounced minerality (almost salty) and a kick of chilli pepper. Sweetness from BBQ'd meats, honey, raisins, and liquorice. The smoke is earthy, with a touch of ash, tempered by tart citrus fruits like grapefruit. Burnt logs and camphor in the mid-palate.
Finish
Quite long, dry, smoky, and sooty. Waves of soft smoky caramel, peat, and cinnamon hints. A light bitter-sweet finish with pepper and cowberry leaves.
