Description

This is a very special single cask release of Lagavulin single malt, distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2016 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the legendary Islay distillery. Matured for 24 years in an ex-sherry butt, this limited edition of 522 individually numbered bottles was released as a charity bottling, with all proceeds from initial sales donated to seven Islay charities. It is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Nose
Complex and deep aromas of vanilla fudge, caramel, white chocolate, and classic Lagavulin notes of peat, smoked salty fish, and newsprint. Faint red apple, zesty orange, charred oak, sawdust, and voluptuous fruit.
Palate
Intensely smoky, peaty with earthy smokiness, charcoal, salty seaweed, and chocolate. Hot and sweet with bready barley, vanilla, creamy fudge, spiky wood spice, and notes of toffee, fudge, honeycomb, cinnamon, five spice, and candied orange.
Finish
Long, spicy-dry finish with smoked vanilla fudge, attractive earthiness, charcoal, tart red-berry notes, cedar, and a smoky ginger warmth. Quietly persistent with minty, fruity coffee notes and a sprinkling of salt.
