Description

A rare vintage 1994 1.0-litre bottling of the stunning 16 years old Lagavulin's Double Matured Special Release Distillers Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the year 2010. This 16-year-old Islay single malt scotch whisky of the Classic Malts Selection from the Islay legend Lagavulin was distilled in 1994, double matured for up to 6 months in European Pedro Ximenez Sherry oak casks - these give the whisky more fruit, such as raisins and dry fruits and a syrupy character. The whisky was bottled in 2010 at 43.0% vol. and the batch number lgv.04/498.

Nose
Sweet peanut, creosote, toffee and peach. Intense peat smoke with iodine and seaweed marks, rich dark sweets. Oaky vanilla berry custard dessert with some wet foliage funk.
Palate
Light and smooth, very fruity with raisins, morello cherries, honey and cloves, complementing massive peat smoke. Dry peat smoke with gentle sweetness, sea and salty taste with a hint of wood. Sweet sherry notes wrapped in smoke and oak, with slight pepper spice, mouth-watering and puckery, offering sweet, smoke, oak, bitter, sour, and umami savory depth.
Finish
Long and smoky with a hint of sweet candied peel that lingers. Full-bodied, with balance remaining as smoke, sweet, and other flavors dwindle slowly. Richly peaty, deep, smoky flavors.
