Description

The Lakes Distillery, situated in the Lake District, practices 'holistic whisky making'. The Whiskymaker's Reserve No.4 is a limited edition single malt whisky, matured in a combination of Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, and red wine casks. It was bottled in 2021 at 52% ABV and won 'World's Best Single Malt' at the 2022 World Whisky Awards.

Rich Manuka honey with sun-dried dates and roasted cashew nuts, overripe banana and pineapple, scrumpy cider, yeastiness, spicy cereals, cinnamon stick, cigar tobacco, leather, heather honey, golden syrup, citrus blossom, honeysuckle, sultana, candied orange, mango, toasted hazelnut, and apricot.
Palate
Velvety with a rich interplay of dried fruits, nuts and spice, full-bodied, strawberry jam on buttered fruit scones, mincemeat, bittersweet walnut liqueur, amaro, almond, gingerbread, brown sugar, heather honey, milk chocolate, raisins, sultanas, candied peel, mango, malted barley, green apple, toasted hazelnut, walnut, black treacle, and all-spice.
Finish
Vibrant with a long and creamy finish, ending with a burst of spices, nutty, leathery, cigar-like, hot and peppery with a dryness from malt and wood/baking spices.
