Nose
Softly herbal, with fresh scents of cut grass and eucalyptus. Ripe red apples, cigar box, vanilla and toasted oak. Deep sweetness, creamy vanilla custard, whispers of citrus, marzipan, and honey. Aromas akin to a basket of fruits – white grape, red apple and lime, plus honey. Vanilla, spicy undertones. [1, 4, 5, 7]
Palate
Full-bodied and deeply concentrated. Orchard fruits and mild oakiness, earthy notes of rhubarb and wet leaves. Richness continues with marzipan and luxurious chocolate, spiced up with white pepper and mild chili. Rhubarb and custard sweets, charred oak, then a maize-y finish including citrus peel. [1, 4, 5, 7]
Finish
Very long. Fruitiness shifts towards citrus, adding a fizzy, almost bubbly character. Earthy rhubarb reappears, accompanied by warming cinnamon, toasted oak, and leather. A fascinating, complex finale that takes in peppery notes, orange peel and cinder toffee. [1, 4, 5, 7]
