An extraordinary bottling of Linkwood from Gordon & MacPhail's luxurious Private Collection series. This single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 1983 and matured for 35 years in a single refill American oak hogshead before being bottled in June 2019 at a cask strength of 55.7%. Only 168 bottles were produced, and it is presented without chill filtration or artificial colouration.

Nose: Rich aromas of dark honey and vanilla pod with an undertone of poached pear, citrus zest, marzipan and cinnamon.
Palate: Gentle flavours of molasses with bursts of tart lemon zest, charred oak, mixed herbs, sweet red apples and malted cereals.
Finish: Full-bodied; lingering oak evolves into dried tobacco, with a rich and lovely smooth texture.

Charred oak gives a woodier edge alongside poached pear and citrus zest, so there’s a nice push and pull between oak and fruit. The notes sound rich without losing that lively, tart side.
