Description

Longrow Red 11 Year Old Cabernet Sauvignon Cask is a heavily peated single malt whisky from the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. This limited edition release was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2012 at 52.1% ABV. It was initially matured for seven years in refill ex-bourbon hogsheads before undergoing a four-year finish in fresh Cabernet Sauvignon hogsheads from Angove Long Row wine in Australia. This non-chill filtered whisky was released with an outturn of 9,000 bottles.

Nose
Red fruits of cherries and raspberries, with notes of prosciutto, peat smoke, iodine, sea salt, and tangy grapefruit. Hints of dark fruits, wood spices, cardamom, and black pepper are also present.
Palate
A strong and full delivery of peat, leather, and salt, complemented by red fruits, black berries, and red wine notes. Caramel, orange, black pepper, cinnamon, oak, and bitter chocolate are also evident, with a juicy and creamy texture.
Finish
Long, lingering, and dry, with persistent peat smoke, red fruits, and red wine notes. Coastal salinity, charred oak, and a hint of menthol and spices are present, with a juicy and syrupy fruit character.
