Description

The 2022 Longrow Red release is a 15-year-old peated Campbeltown single malt whisky. It was matured for 11 years in ex-bourbon barrels, followed by an additional 4 years in fresh Pinot Noir barriques sourced from Grant Taylor's Valli vineyards in Central Otago, New Zealand. This limited edition release is part of the annual Longrow Red series, known for using different red wine casks each year. It was bottled at a cask strength of 51.4% ABV, with an outturn of 9,400 bottles, and is non-chill filtered.

Nose
Creamy and fruity with notes of custard, bramble jelly, red apples, cherries, tobacco, damp leaves, and subtle earthy peat smoke. Hints of toffee, butterscotch, smoked paprika, redcurrants, and strawberry jam.
Palate
Oily and sticky mouthfeel with earthy peat, jammy red fruits (strawberry, cranberry, raspberry), sweet confectionary, and a strong winey influence. Notes of dark chocolate, ripe plums, blackberries, oak, cinnamon, subtle earthiness, and a tinge of struck matches, ashy smoke, and faint salinity.
Finish
Long, sticky, winey, and sweet smoke with persistent smoky embers, red fruits, berry sweetness, and briny, maritime elements. Notes of tart orange, pomegranate, raspberry, pepper, cardamom, and slightly nutty oak.
