Description

This Longrow Red release is a 13-year-old peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. It was initially matured for 10 years in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and refill sherry hogsheads, followed by a 3-year finish in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels sourced from Mont Gras' Intriga Estate in Alto Maipo, Chile. Bottled in 2020 at 51.6% ABV, this limited edition is part of the annual Longrow Red series and was released as 9,000 bottles. It is non-chill filtered and has natural color.

Nose
Strawberries, cranberries, oranges, sooty smoke, wet concrete, tobacco leaves, rhubarb and custard sweets, stewed red fruits, blackberries, ginger, oily peat, raspberry jam, sweet toffee, dirty peat, red grapes, dried fruits, and a classic Springbank funky note.
Palate
Oily and rich with caramel, cooked fruit, toasted oak, fragrant berry notes, musty spices, resin, and a slight sulphury note. Summer berries, red apples, smouldering peat embers, black tea, powerful cherry and blackcurrant, jamminess, and a salty edge.
Finish
Long and warm with chocolate, oak spice, grassy touches, barley malt, rotting vegetation, Cabernet Sauvignon tannins, dry driftwood, rosemary, tobacco, and a significant umami.
