Nose
Medium-bodied with clarity, notes of juicy esters, calvados, pear, apple peels, barley sugar, and cut herbs. Faint sherry influence with citrus, apple, and sweet barley. Also toffee, light maple syrup, dried orange peel, dusty oak, milk chocolate, apricot jam, plum, raisin, and a gamy, mushroomy sweetness. [2, 3, 10]
Palate
Full and rich with sherried peels, fragrant oaks, dried hay, dried fruits, and wood resin. A blast of flavors with hints of smoked barbecue sauce, meaty, full-bodied, and an unexpected floral note. Rich, oily, and satisfying with more sherry and prunes, balanced by oak and fresh-cut grass. [2, 3, 8]
Finish
Long and supple with apple blossom and sultanas. More wood spice, smoke, and a bit of pepper. Reasonably long and complex with newfound floral notes, a wee bit clipped and drying at the very end. [2, 4, 8]
