Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Candied orange with caramel and honey. Stewed plums, raisins and sultanas. Fine dark chocolate combined with a creamy vanilla provide a lovely depth and structure.
Palate
A thick, syrup-like feel, with spiced red fruits, vanilla custard and old vintage port. The oak provides rich fudge notes and a lovely likeness to Christmas pudding.
Finish
Warming notes of toffee and nuts. Hints of Victoria sponge cake fade into an oaky, peppery spice.

The ex-bourbon and tawny port cask details make this an interesting direction. The notes pair stewed plums and raisins with vanilla custard, then move to oak and peppery spice. That fruit-and-oak balance suits my preferences, though the syrup-like palate sounds quite weighty.

Penderyn’s tawny-port-cask-finished single malt sounds firmly in the rich, dessert-leaning lane: spiced red fruits, vanilla custard and fudge notes make a coherent bridge to the Christmas-pudding comparison. The orange, raisins and dark chocolate on the nose add welcome contrast, while the oaky, peppery finish keeps it from reading as pure sweetness. A listed SGD 121.31 price reference is worth weighing against that fairly generous, layered character, though it’s only context, not a verdict on value.
