- Nose
- Subtle sweetness, pear notes, fire smoke, coastal elements, sea salt brine, mint, juniper berries, delicate, complex, changeable. Grassy and smoky, with bonfire on a wet day, damp straw, bog myrtle, wet sand and shells. Vanilla swirls up with lemonade, and hints of creosote, overly ripe/rotting fruit skin, shellfish, olive oil, green vegetable/heather notes. Subtle, honeyed peat wrapped in dried fruits such as pear and fig, with whispers of antiseptic maritime air, menthol, lemon zest, and soft vanilla. Sweet and fruity with a hint of chocolate, followed by a strong smoke smell.
- Palate
- Sweet lemon at first, then medicinal and ashy. Peat is present but not dominant. Oak with vanilla comes in at the end. Medium oil on the palate. Sweet and crisp, with lemon sherbet and hints of lemon grass. The smoke keeps mainly backstage. Mildly smoky with salty malt notes. Intensely citrus-driven with sweet ash and smoky undertones, bright lemons and oranges, light dryness, and a peppery lift. A very sweet beginning that fades slightly but maintains throughout.
- Finish
- Long, salty and smokey. Lingering, soothing on marzipan. Peat smoke is more apparent in the lingering finish. Medium-long and graceful: honey and ashy smoke linger, slowly giving way to toasted tobacco leaf richness. Burns from start to finish, then quite pleasant.
