Description

Since 1833, when King William IV granted the first Royal Appointment ever given to a distillery, Brackla has been called "Royal Brackla" and known as "The King's Own Whisky". Although sales of the single malt are quite low compared to others, it is highly desired for use in many blends including William Lawson and Dewar's so, in the past few years, the distillery has been running at full capacity. This 12-year-old single malt from Royal Brackla is finished in Oloroso sherry casks, imparting a fantastically fruity, spiced depth of flavour.

Nose
Sherried fruit cake, buttered malt loaf, stone fruits, peaches, dried apricots, dark berries, and cherries mingle with caramelised nuts, chocolate raisins, brown sugar, and baking spices. Hints of ginger, orange, lemon, apple, toffee, figs, mocha, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, and walnuts.
Palate
Peaches, dried apricots, dark berries, and cherries, with caramelised nuts, chocolate raisins, brown sugar, and baking spices. Notes of honey, pear, spice, plum, white pepper, cinnamon, wood spice, cardamom, and clove. A creamy and smooth mouthfeel with hints of melted milk chocolate, tiramisu, and crème brûlée.
Finish
Sweet, tangy oak, sugared fruit, and almonds. Lingering notes of caramel, cinnamon spice, honey, berry jam, orange, toasted oak, black tea, and coffee.
