Description

Founder of the original Lochnagar distillery, James Robertson clearly had a few foes in the business as competitors burned it down and - after Robertson built a new distillery - the second subsequently suffered the same fate. Lochnagar managed to establish a greater amount of luck and success when in 1845, John Begg built his 'New Lochnagar' which gained a rare Royal Warrant only a few years later. The distillery is known for its historical ties to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who visited in 1848 and granted the Royal Warrant.
