Description

Founder of the original Lochnagar distillery, James Robertson clearly had a few foes in the business as competitors burned it down and - after Robertson built a new distillery - the second subsequently suffered the same fate. Lochnagar managed to establish a greater amount of luck and success when in 1845, John Begg built his 'New Lochnagar' which gained a rare Royal Warrant only a few years later. This single malt is distilled at Royal Lochnagar Distillery and exclusively selected for sale on the Balmoral Estate. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 13, 16, 17]
