Description

A delicious bottling from the Highland distillery Glen Ord, this 18-year-old single malt forms part of the 2019 Diageo Special Releases. Matured for its full term in freshly charred American oak hogsheads, it offers a complex, fruity, and spicy profile. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 55% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and naturally colored. The 2019 Special Releases theme was 'Rare by Nature,' and this expression is known for its smoothness and richness.

Nose
A mild nose-feel with a slight prickle, lightly nose-drying. Aromas of orange peel, berry fruits, nougat, dried apple, and a zesty orange peel base. Also notes of honey, springtime blossoming meadow, gentle oak spices, white pepper, cereals, almonds, marzipan, fresh peach, red apple, and wildflowers.
Palate
Mouth-filling and smooth in texture at natural strength. Starts with sweet caramel toffee, followed by warming orange, fresh tangerine, peaches, and a prickle of spice. Notes of chocolate, burnt caramel, and sultry Asian spices. The spice palette expands to include ginger and cardamom, with a chewy, oily body and hints of impregnated wood, nettle tea, and white flowers.
Finish
Long, warming, and increasingly spicy, leaving the palate tingling. Lightly drying, with notes of honey, oak wood spices, white pepper, green fruits, tangy citrus fruit, and dark chocolate.
