Description

A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co. This is a rare and magnificent 18-year-old Springbank Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky, bottled in 2009 as the first batch/inaugural release. It is described as a classic, full-bodied dram, bottled without the addition of colourants and chill filtration.

Nose
Sweet fruit compote, berries, plums, rhubarb, raisins, banana, vanilla, toffee, and a bit of smoke. Coastal hints, oily, treacle, honey, figgy pudding, sultanas, black olives, light salt, marzipan, sherbet, almonds, and strawberries.
Palate
Vanilla, toffee, red currants, salty, peppery kick, black licorice, aniseed, chilli spices, cereal notes, oily mouthfeel. Treacle, brambles, blackcurrants, dark chocolate, nutmeg, pine resin, citrus, and rich dried fruits.
Finish
Long, salty, briny sea air, sweet chocolate, lingering spice. Chocolate caramels, smoky fruit, mild black olives, dry tannins, spiced tea, dry sherry, ashy note, gooseberry, salted pretzel, and cayenne pepper.
