Nose
Fresh spray of tangerine peel, oily and mature, notes of strawberry, quince/medlar, pine and Maltesers. All quite reserved. Also, fresh, fruity, red apples, lemons and coconut. Ripe stonefruit and pear, sweet, perfumed, almost juicy. Sweetness like sugar. Rich, buttery backbone of porridge and sun-warmed hay, thread of cocoa, raisins, and prunes.
Palate
Great feel, fills the mouth. Good balance between sweet and almost savoury. Orange curaçao and a sooty note. Sustained, teasing interplay of firm, malty, sweetness and dryness, and yet more fruit. Bananas, raspberries. Dark-skinned plums, sweet cream butter, and candied grapefruit peel dipped in milk chocolate. Leathery, almost tobacco-like flavors in the mid-palate prelude a light hint of medicinal peat, a bit rubbery.
Finish
Very light smoke. Shortbread, cookies. Like the base of a fruit pie. Long and cocoa-inflected with soft bitterness and a nice hit of salt.
