Description

The Talisker 25 Year Old 1975 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch (2001) is the first official distillery release in an annual series, and the only official 25-year-old Talisker to date with a specific vintage. Distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2001 at 59.9% ABV, this limited edition release had an outturn of 6,000 bottles. Nose
Sea-salt and peat smoke sweep the nose, edged with iodine and cracked pepper. A briny breeze carries dark fruit—prune and fig—touched by toasted oak. Subtle sherry sweetness threads through, hinting at cacao and toffee, enriching the maritime core without masking the distillery's signature smoke.
Palate
Powerful, full-bodied palate of peat smoke and sea-salt, intensified by natural cask strength warmth. Rich maritime sweetness with dried fig, dark chocolate, and orange zest unfolds over toasted oak. Black pepper, iodine, and a drying tannic grip provide structure, while vanilla whispers through the smoke.
Finish
Long, maritime finish. Charcoal smoke and sea salt linger, braided with dark raisin and cocoa from the sherry cask. A peppery warmth remains, revealing leathered oak and coastal minerals as a resinous, peat-kissed echo fades slowly.
