Description
Wire Works Whisky from White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire's very first Single Malt. Commissioned in early 2018 with the first distillation taking place in April that year, it wasn't until February 2022 when their first Wire Works Whisky was released. The 'Wire Works' name comes from the site of the distillery, built on the former Johnson & Nephew wire works on the banks of the river Derwent. This lightly peated English single malt was initially aged in first fill ex-bourbon barrels before being finished for approximately 17 months to two years in White Peak's own fresh, rum-seasoned American oak casks, made on site and matured in their warehouse for full Derbyshire provenance. This dual maturation creates a bright and juicy single malt whisky bursting with tropical fruits, complimented by White Peak's signature background smoke.
