The oldest single malt whisky distillery in Japan, founded in 1923 by Shinjirō Torii. Nose
Fruity and rich with barley malt, caramel, cereal sweetness, winter spice, vanilla cream, mixed peels, hint of nuts, peach, Muscat grapes, cookies, and macadamia nut. Some notes of sweet porridge with raisins and dates, autumn fruits, pears, acetone, varnish, sweet melon, synthetic cherry, tangerine, and white wine.
Palate
Medium-bodied with rich peels, winter spice, aniseed, herbal notes, and a bitter oak. Flavors of brown sugar, plums, dates, cherries, and a slight spiciness from cloves and nutmeg, with an oily mouthfeel. Also notes of malty cereal, sweetness, soft vanilla, honey, candy apples, tangy oak wood, and lemon curd.
Finish
Dry and of good length with acacia honey, sweet vanilla, and oaky dryness. Medium in length, lingering on sweet cherries and sultanas. Can also be woody and dry, with more malt, caramel, and citrus.
