The oldest single malt whisky distillery in Japan, founded in 1923 by Shinjirō Torii. It is still owned by his company today, now known as Suntory, and its single malt which was bottled for the first time in 1984 is hugely sought-after. It also provides fillings for blends such as Hibiki. The 2022 Yamazaki Limited Edition Tsukuriwake Selection is a collection of four whiskies, including this Mizunara expression, that lifts the veil on the foundational pillars of Yamazaki single malt. Tsukuriwake means “artisanship through a diversity of making”, a philosophy embraced by Suntory. This Mizunara expression showcases the elegant spice of Japan's famous Mizunara oak, which Yamazaki has used since its opening, embracing its distinctive spice and incense-like character.
